The BlThe Blue Volta Carbon Project is an ambitious blue carbon initiative focused on restoring degraded mangrove ecosystems in Ghana’s Eastern Volta Delta. Starting with 2,000 hectares, the project aims to build community-managed ecosystems that deliver long-term climate, biodiversity, and livelihood benefits.
With strong partnerships already established with traditional authorities, local communities, and government institutions, the project is positioned to generate verified carbon credits, while also supporting alternative livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, and coastal resilience.
- Climate impact: large-scale carbon sequestration & coastal protection
- Community impact: jobs, sustainable incomes, and 30-year revenue-sharing
- Global alignment: REDD+, Bonn Challenge, and UN SDGs
Currently at the pre-feasibility stage, the project is seeking like-minded partners and investors to co-develop and scale a model that blends profit with purpose.
